Finding Ja'Carla

I have been MIA for a month now! Much has changed for me…mainly my lifestyle. As of right now I am unsure if the change is for better or worse, but I am currently on the journey of finding out.
This post is called May 11, 2019, because this date marks an important accomplishment of my life. An accomplishment I never saw myself completing. On May 11, 2019, I graduated from Delaware State University with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Mass Communications with a concentration in Journalism.

Crossing the stage of completion, I was full of doubt. The main question I was asking myself when standing in line waiting on my name to be called is “What’s next?” I’m done with school and I am still in search for a position; I have nothing lined up. I have gone to a couple of interviews and all of them have sent me disappointing emails. After I crossed the stage, I started thinking about how I was going to have to live my worst nightmare: going back home to North Carolina. What am I going to do in NC?! Of course, apply for jobs, volunteer, build my resume, and work on my blog. But what else is out there for me to enjoy? Usually, I take summer classes and work to build up some extra cash for the school year. But school is over…for now at least (eye roll). But in the meantime, what will I do with so much time on my hands? Now you’re probably thinking “Girl get a flipping job.” Well duh, sis... that is exactly what I’m trying to do. Ain’t nobody got time for a broke bish.
Once I touched home base reality hit me. I realized instead of me kicking and screaming internally, why not make the best of my time being home. North Carolina has changed quite a bit and I should take time to discover it while accomplishing my goals. Just live life and focus on ME more, finding inner and outer peace. Finding Ja’Carla and becoming the best version of her.
